Memo Board and Winter Layout

Happy Scrapdoodles Design Team Wednesday! I am highlighting two beautiful collections that can be found in the store.  First up is Authentique's "Gathering" collection.  This collection is so versatile!  The colors (blue, orange/coral, brown) are very trendy right now and lend well to layouts and projects of all types.  I fell in love with the patterned paper called "Flourish" and used it as my background for this hanging memo board.  I started with a 12x12 square of cork board and hot-glued the patterened paper (which I trimmed by about 1/4 inch on each side and rounded the corners).
I kept the board simple - just using a few of the die cut quotes and shapes from the same collection.  As a bottom border, I used some felt ric-rac ribbon I found from My Mind's Eye.

Then, I found and printed a free 2012 mini calendar from online and cut each month and attached it to a square of patterned paper, punched holes and strung it with brown ribbon.  Since the back of my board is cork, I attached the calendar pages with a large felt-covered tac.  I also made my own little notepad with graphing paper cut into strips and bound together with ribbon.  To attach this to the cork board, I actually made two holes with my awl and secured the pad with the ribbon - it's tied in the back.  To hang the board, I hot glued the large ribbon hanger and then the two bows on top in each corner.

Since I had a lot of scraps left over, I made several simple cards.  For these I started with a plain card base and decorated the fronts with paper, ribbon, buttons, and die cuts.

Next up is this wintery layout.  I know we've hardly had any snow in the region this year, but there are so many new winter lines in the store, it's hard to pass them up.  Maybe you can catch up scrapping the Big Snow we had a few years ago! One of my new favorites is Fancy Pants Designs' "Winterland" collection.  I love the soft colors and subtle patterns.  One of the border strip sheets had a quote "Snowflakes are kisses from heaven" which made me think of the fun my daughter had when it "snowed" back in January.  She kept running around saying it tickled and tasted like frosting!  I knew this was the perfect line for a layout with her sticking out her tongue to catch the snowflakes.  The layout came together easily with a full background sheet, one border and a few of the coordinating heavy-weight stickers.  I added a bit of paper lace I had in my stash and cut out a title using my Cricut (Gypsy Wanderings cartridge).  There's still more "winterland" left and, perhaps, one more snow in Virginia before spring is finally here!  Happy Scrappin' Everyone!

Two Travel Layouts with Imaginisce

I just finished these two fun layouts and am loving the classic color scheme - deep blue, burgandy, tan, yellow.  All the patterned papers are from Imaginisce's new line, Bon Voyage.  I picked up four sheets of this double sided, glossy accented paper from Scrapdoodles.  When I saw these little airplanes, I knew just what photos of H. I would use.  We just returned from a family trip to Wisconsin and she had such a great time "flying in the clouds."  I wasn't thrilled with my photos from inside the plane, so I turned them black and white and printed the three of them out in a strip.  Even though they aren't great, I think it still shows the feelings of fascination in Hannah's face as she looks out the window of the plane.  The tags are cut from on the paper sheets and the fun font was cut with my Cricut and the Printing Press cartridge.

The second layout features a compass motif in that gorgeous dark blue background.  These are also glossy.  The cute stamps are another sheet and make a nice little banner when sewn together with some floss.  I also used the little coordinated stamp from Imaginisce.  Don't you wish stamps were still 10 cents?  On this layout I used more of the tags as layers and journaling spots.  My title can be found in the Gypsy Wanderings Cricut cartridge.

If you've done any traveling this summer, a few of your layouts deserve these great Imaginisce papers - find them at your local scrapbook store!  If you're in Fredericksburg, stop by Scrapdoodles soon and check these layouts out in person.

Mother's Day Cards, Spring Cards, Birthday Cards & Take Out

I have been super busy lately planning a baby shower - I will reveal those cute results later in the month (don't want to ruin the surprise!) and am also working on Bridal Shower invites (my little brother is getting married!).  I have made lots of cards lately so I thought I would share some of them here.  The zebra card was for my niece's birthday (Paisley cartridge).  The robin card (from Kate's ABCs) was for a friend.  The take-out box - okay it isn't a card, but it's cute and I never posted it.  The bunny and grass images are from Gypsy Wanderings and the stamp is from Stampin' Up.  I put a few chocolates in it for a friend.
This week I also made some mother's day cards.  The silouhette image is from A Child's Year.  The papers are from DCWV Lemon Stack - they are so beautiful.
I will be spending all day Saturday scrapping - I'm so excited!  It will be a nice little "getaway" with my bestest friend.  I hope to get lots of pages done and will post my favorites next week.  I hope you have a great weekend, too, and are able to find some time to get creative.
