Thanksgiving Table

Thanksgiving is such a special time to spend with friends and family. It's fun to make the decor and table settings special. Here's a quick and easy idea for you to try. Tuck your fancy silverware in a small dotted pouch marked with the initial of each guest in vinyl. Don't forget to add a small piece card at each place setting for guests to record what they are most thankful for. These cards make great additions in a planner or scrapbook with photos of the day's festivities.
Watch it come together in this quick video.

Kids Table Turkey

Kids won't mind getting assigned to the "kids table" when they are greeted with these fun little turkeys! Start with a clear triangle box. Assemble and fill it with shredded paper (or maybe little treats for your little guests). Use a sharp craft knife to cut 3 "x" marks on each side. This is how you'll insert your crayons (the turkey "feathers") as shown below. They should fit nice and snug.
Decorate the front with a fun little turkey (mine is cut with my Cricut) and clear border stickers. Don't forget to provide some paper or coloring sheets for the kids, too! For mine, I used a few stamps from the SRM-Faith collections to spell out "Give thanks to God" and will ask the kids to write or draw what they are thankful for. I can collect these and easily add them to my Thanksgiving scrapbook page along with photos of the kids. It will be a sweet way to remember the blessings of the day.

Thanks for visiting. Hope you are inspired to create something wonderful today!

Cute Turkeys to Pin or Clip

Pinterest is so much fun!  I love to browse and get ideas for new projects, don't you?  I saw several versions of these ribbon turkeys.  I saw them as hair bows, pins to wear, and even on onesies and t-shirts.  I decided to dig into my felt and ribbon stash and create my own version.  I made one for my daughter's hair and two for her preschool teachers to wear on their aprons.  They turned out so cute!  I hand cut each body from felt - 2 per turkey.  The ribbons are cut to about 2.5 inches.  I laid the folded ribbons and lightly tacked them with glue to one body and covered up all the ends with the second (front) body.  I stitched all around the felt body to secure everything in place.  My turkeys have a felt nose and googly eyes.  Then I added either a clip or a pin to the back.  For the teachers, I pinned the turkey onto a thank you notecard made with scrapbook papers (love these papers from Authentique!).  Cute, quick, and easy!
Happy Turkey Day, Everyone!

Thanksgiving Day Kids Placemat

I saw this cute placemat idea on the Official Cricut Blog and set out to make my own version for Little Miss H. at the Thanksgiving table.  For mine, I first taped (on the back) 2 sheets of DCWV fall paper to create a 12x24 mat base.  I cut a white 10 inch square and centered it on the mat, then adhered skinny strips of patterned paper to mark the squares.  I chose fall-themed cuts from the following Cricut cartridges: Create a Critter, Designer's Calendar, and B is for Boy.  There's a spot to put her drink and a spot to lay out her utensils and I created a pocket from a clear envelope to hold the game pieces.  I then laminated the entire placemat with clear contact paper.  I laminated the playing pieces, too.  I think she'll like it and it is a good way to keep her at the table longer.  Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
