Everyday Love with Chipboard Masks

This week's Scrapdoodles Design Team post is all about LOVE!  I believe in documenting the everyday kinds of love in my scrapbooks - not just the big events and milestones.  This week I'm using two different "love" lines now available at the store - American Crafts (XOXO) and imaginisce (Love You More) and some really fun and versatile chipboard and acrylic accents from Maya Road.  The American Crafts and imaginsce lines went really well together so they are combined in my two layouts.  Lately, I've been experimenting with misting and when I saw the days of the week chipboard accents from Maya Road (which, by the way, are on SALE this week and next at Scrapdoodles!) I immediately saw the page in my head.  I simply laid out the chipboard on a full sheet of 12x12 paper in a sunburst pattern and used my Tattered Angels Mist (Red Velvet) to cover it.  The mist dries fairly quickly, so I didn't have to wait long to pick up my chipboard and admire the negative left on the page.  I added several strips of patterned paper from these collections behind my photo to create a "mat" for it.  My title was cut with my Cricut (Graphically Speaking).  I also added a clear acrylic heart to my page.  I adhered tiny gems around it to emphasize its shape.  There are also several accents around the page that were cut from the patterned papers or found in my stash.  I finished it off with a couple of sentiment stamps (MME).

My second layout is similar in theme, but I really wanted to use the actual chipboard shapes this time.  I love how the mist covers the chipboard so nicely!  I adhered them to my page using glue dots.  For this page I also added another masking and misting feature, this time using another one of the clear acrylic elements from Maya Road (love).  I also did a little bit more heavy dripping on this page, which I really like.  The hexagon patterned paper from imaginisce is awesome.  Here I cut out a few pieces and arranged them diagonally behind my square photo.  For extra dimension, I wrapped twine around the photo and mats.  The strip at the bottom of the page is also imaginisce and is sewn down at the bottom edge.  I hope you're able to come into the store to see these two layouts!  The misting was new to me and I really love that it's so forgiving in terms of technique.  There are a lot of possibilities.  Did I mention that Maya Road Chipboard is on sale?

K is for Kite Scrapbook Layout

We've been having some windy days in March (imagine that) and Hannah and I decided to attempt kite-flying in the backyard.  It took a few tries, but we got our Cinderella kite high up in the air.  Hannah was all excited about it until the wind started taking her for a ride and she began yelling, "I'm done! I'm done!"  Well this mama was having fun so I kept it going until, alas, the apple tree ate our kite.  Oh, bummer!  At least we can relive the memories in a scrapbook page.
Luckily, I spotted this super cute kite-flying paper from imaginisce (see the line, including the super-cute kite paper on their product page here) at Scrapdoodles last week.  I picked up the coordinating spring border sheet and a pack of stickers to work with.  I've seen a lot of fun strips of ribbons or papers as borders on layouts lately and these papers seemed to fit the bill for that kind of design.  I simply cut up my border sheet and arranged them in varying lengths down the left side of my page.  I was inspired by the kite strings to stitch on my page and haphazardly ran a few wavy lines to secure my strips.  My title cut is from Cricut's Nate's ABCs cartridge.  I created the feel of a windy day by extending the kite-tail down the page by cutting small "ribbons" from paper scraps and sewing them in place along the stitched tail.
Hope you get a little kite-flying in this March.  And watch out for the apple trees!

Two Travel Layouts with Imaginisce

I just finished these two fun layouts and am loving the classic color scheme - deep blue, burgandy, tan, yellow.  All the patterned papers are from Imaginisce's new line, Bon Voyage.  I picked up four sheets of this double sided, glossy accented paper from Scrapdoodles.  When I saw these little airplanes, I knew just what photos of H. I would use.  We just returned from a family trip to Wisconsin and she had such a great time "flying in the clouds."  I wasn't thrilled with my photos from inside the plane, so I turned them black and white and printed the three of them out in a strip.  Even though they aren't great, I think it still shows the feelings of fascination in Hannah's face as she looks out the window of the plane.  The tags are cut from on the paper sheets and the fun font was cut with my Cricut and the Printing Press cartridge.

The second layout features a compass motif in that gorgeous dark blue background.  These are also glossy.  The cute stamps are another sheet and make a nice little banner when sewn together with some floss.  I also used the little coordinated stamp from Imaginisce.  Don't you wish stamps were still 10 cents?  On this layout I used more of the tags as layers and journaling spots.  My title can be found in the Gypsy Wanderings Cricut cartridge.

If you've done any traveling this summer, a few of your layouts deserve these great Imaginisce papers - find them at your local scrapbook store!  If you're in Fredericksburg, stop by Scrapdoodles soon and check these layouts out in person.
